Punzzle-Solving Tips
Below, you will find a list of helpful tips and techniques that you can apply when you are attempting to solve the Daily Punzzles. Note that this is only a partial list of the ways that Punzzles can be built. Clever Punzzles will use combinations of these techniques, as well as others which are not mentioned here.

  • Words spelled backwards: This usually implies that one of the following words is in the Punzzle: back, reverse, over, flip, turn, etc.

For example: REDRO is the word ORDER spelled backwards, and could represent the Punzzle "back order".

  • Words within words: This usually implies that one of the following words is in the Punzzle: in, between, middle, etc.

For example: LAMOTHERW contains the word MOTHER in between LA and W, and represents the Punzzle "mother-in-law".

  • Letter case: Most Punzzles are done in uppercase only. If a Punzzle contains mixed-case, this usually implies that one of the following words is in the Punzzle: small, little, lower, big, large, upper, etc.

For example: league contains only lowercase letters, and represents the Punzzle "little league".

  • Words over or under a line: This usually implies that one of the following words is in the Punzzle: over, under, on, etc.

For example: ACHIEVER has the word 'achiever' over top of the line, and represents the Punzzle "over-achiever".

  • Words in or near a box: This usually implies that one of the following words is in the Punzzle: in, out, left, right, bottom, top, etc.

For example: If the word GUN is located inside a box near the top, it could represent the Punzzle "top gun".

  • Homonyms:Are words that sound the same, but are spelled differently.

For example: ELOR is the word ROLE spelled backwards, and is a homonym of ROLL. It represents the Punzzle "roll over".
